The boundaries of the neighborhood are McCartney Street and Noblestown Road to the north, Greentree Road to the east, McKenna Avenue and Poplar Street to the south, and Hall Avenue and Barr Avenue to the west. This neighborhood is a quiet, hilltop location near enough to be part of the city and far enough away to feel like a suburb. The higher location offers great views of the Pittsburgh skyline.

Westwood is primarily a residential neighborhood of single-family detached homes mixed with some apartments. There are lots of commercial enterprises in this neighborhood including a Pizza Hut and a Best Western Hotel in addition to lots of local businesses and restaurants.
