Regent Square Neighborhood

The tree-lined neighborhood of Regent Square is located in eastern Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, about seven miles from the downtown area. This community spans roughly .251 square miles bound by Forbes Avenue on the north and Pebbles Street on the east. On the west and south, it extends to the boundaries of Frick Park and Nine Mile Run, respectively. Regent Square encompasses the 15218 and 15221 zip codes and is part of Allegheny County.

Much of the Regent Square neighborhood is residential, with nearly 1,140 people residing here. Many residents are students at the local universities, which include Carnegie Mellon and the University of Pittsburgh. This community also attracts upper-middle class professionals who are employed by the area’s medical centers and higher education institutions.

Despite its size and location near the heart of the city, Regent Square has the feel of a village, thanks in part to the seclusion that Frick Park and Nine Mile Run afford along its western and southern boundaries. The homes and businesses here are situated on a grid street plan, and much of the architecture is of the Victorian style.

Nearby Frick Park not only provides a sense of seclusion to Regent Square – it also offers a variety of amenities for neighborhood residents. This jewel in the Pittsburgh parks system spans more than 560 acres, making it the largest regional park in the city. Frick Park is known for its extensive wooded trails, untouched nature, and wildlife viewing, but it also offers amenities like playgrounds, tennis courts, and baseball fields. Among the more unique amenities here is the only green for the game of lawn bowling in the entire state of Pennsylvania.

Interstate 376 runs past the park on the south, providing residents of Regent Square with easy access to the rest of the city.
