The Elliot Neighborhood is in the 15220 zip-code area of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The city of Pittsburgh is home to Pirates Baseball. The Major League Baseball team was established in 1882 and won 2 championships before the creation of the “World Series.”

Steelers Football is the local National Football League franchise and has taken the championship “Super Bowl” title six times since organized in 1933. The Penguins National Hockey League franchise, created in 1967 has won the coveted “Stanley Cup” championship three times.

To the north the border for the neighborhood is West Carson Road. Main Street is the eastern boundary. Noblestown Road is the south border of the area. Chartiers Avenue is the western border.

Rental Properties in the area are a bargain for being a stone’s throw from downtown. Many of the older homes have been restored to better than original condition, and fall below the national average for rental costs. Apartments and rental homes begin at quite reasonable rates per month.

To the north of the Elliot Neighborhood is the West End-Elliot Overlook Park, on the shores of the Monongahela River. To the east of the neighborhood are Mount Washington and the ‘incline’ railway that takes passengers to the view the city skyline from the top. To the south is the Parkway Center Mall, which conveniently has its very own freeway exit into the parking lot.

The neighborhood streets are pedestrian friendly, as sidewalks are found throughout the area. Pittsburgh is also a very hilly and actually has more street steps then San Francisco. The topography makes it a tough town for cycling, but the city has tried to meet the needs of die-hard bicycle enthusiasts and lined the public parks with bike trails. The Port Authority operates the 11th largest public transportation system in the country.
