Crawford Roberts Hill Neighborhood

One of five neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania’s Hill District, Crawford Roberts Hill is located just east of the downtown area. Locals often refer to this neighborhood simply as “Crawford Roberts” and it is alternatively punctuated as “Crawford-Roberts.” The zip code for this Allegheny County community is 15219. Nearby neighborhoods that make up the Hill District include Upper Hill, Bedford Dwellings, Middle Hill, and Terrace Village.

Crawford Roberts Hill is bounded by Interstate 579 and Bigelow Boulevard/Highway 380 on the north, Bedford Avenue and Pride Street on the west, Fifth Avenue and De Ruad Street on the south, and Devillers Street/Bentley Way and Diaz Way on the east. The Civic Arena is situated immediately west of the neighborhood. This community is largely residential, consisting primarily of single-family homes and townhome communities.

Its location near the downtown area means that there is no shortage of things to see and do within a short distance of Crawford Roberts Hill. Within walking distance to the southwest of the neighborhood are Duquesne University and UPMC Mercy Hospital. On the other side of I-579 are a variety of cultural attractions, including Byham Theater, Heinz Ahll, Benedum Center, Harris Theater, and the Pittsburgh Public Theater.

Sports fans living in Crawford Roberts Hill enjoy close proximity to PNC Park (home of the Pittsburgh Pirates MLB team) and Heinz Field (home of the Pittsburgh Steelers NFL team), both situated within a few miles west, on the other side of the river. Also in this area is Allegheny Commons, the city’s oldest park and a popular destination for outdoor recreation. Among the many attractions offered by this urban park are the Hazlett Theater, Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh, National Aviary and Lake Elizabeth.
