Bon Air is one of the smaller neighborhoods in Pittsburgh, but its reputation as “County Living in the City” creates a picturesque image of the tree-lined streets and lovely green parks of Bon Air. Neighboring South Side, with its “Great American Main Street,” East Carson, is 15 blocks of historic Victorian buildings which are packed with restaurants, shops, theaters, art galleries, shops, and live music venues. South Side is also home to a five-mile river front trail, where visitors can hike, bike or roller blade.

Historic Duquesne Incline Railway is also just a short bus ride away. The upper station houses a museum of Pittsburgh history. The incline runs every morning, 365 days a year. The tickets for this popular ride are only $4.50 for a round trip ticket and children, senior citizens and students all ride for free.

Bon Air residents also have access to Schenley Park, just a 15-minute drive over the Monongahela River in nearby Oakland. It is the home of Carnegie Museum and Library, Phillips Conservatory and Botanical Gardens, and Panther Hollow Lake. In addition, there is an ice skating rink and swimming pool. Activities are planned throughout the year, including ice skating events and concerts on Flagstaff Hill in the summer.
