The neighborhood of Westpoint extends on both sides of Dellinger Road, or County Highway 147, located in zip code 43119. Large sidewalks throughout the area afford safety for residents while out walking or running. Situated within five miles are private and public schools, part of the South-Western City School District in Galloway, for children from kindergarten through high school.
Outdoor activities abound less than twenty miles away at Madison Lake State Park. The park allows boating and fishing on its 106-acre lake. Sailboats, row boats, canoes, or boats with electric motors are permitted. A launch on the property provides easy access to the lake. Fishing in Madison Lake does require a valid Ohio license. Venues consist of shelters with picnic tables, a playground for younger children, volleyball and basketball courts, and horseshoe pits. Swimmers or sunbathers will find a 300-foot sand beach with changing booths and restroom facilities. Hikers and nature lovers are treated to an established trail through the woodlands and around the lake shore.
For the golfer, the public is welcome to play Thorn Apple Country Club. This 18-hole course was designed by Jack Kidd and boasts many challenging holes. Single and family memberships are available at varying rates. While playing, participants may see wildlife, such as ducks or the occasional deer.
Major grocery stores and well-known retail chains are found within ten miles of Westpoint. Avid shoppers have the choice of two malls. Westland Mall has Sears and Staples, while the Mall at Tuttle Crossing offers Macy’s and Walden Books.
