East Beechwold Apartments for Rent

The Clintonville neighborhood located north of downtown Columbus was subdivided into residential areas in the early 1900s after the streetcars were extended north from downtown. At the northern edge of Clintonville is Beechwold, which was named after the former Jeffrey family summer estate. Beechwold is divided into East and West Beechwold by High Street, the main north-south thoroughfare between downtown Columbus and Worthington.

Bordered on the west by High Street, East Beechwold is defined by Morse Road on the north, East Weisheimer Road on the south, and Indianola Avenue on the east. Home prices range between $90,000 and $225,000. Housing styles run the gamut from starter cape cods to larger colonials. Unique home styles in the area include Sears and Roebuck kit houses and Lustron homes that were constructed mainly of metal and coated with porcelain in 1949 and 1950. One such house is located on East Weisheimer Road.

Both East and West Beechwold are primarily residential areas but are surrounded by numerous businesses on High Street, including Graceland Shopping Center at 5324 North High Street. East Beechwold residents also shop along Indianola Avenue. There is also easy access to the major north-south byways of I-71 and S.R. 315 which makes easy commutes for East Beechwold residents.

One of the five glacial ravines in Clintonville runs through West Beechwold, but east of High Street the landscape is fairly flat, making it a great neighborhood to walk and ride bikes. Although there are no major parks directly inside the boundaries of East Beechwold, nearby parks include Whetstone, Beechwold, and Delawanda Parks, all on the west side along the Olentagy River.

Area schools include Maize Road Elementary School, Indian Springs Elementary School, Dominion Middle School, and Whetstone High School.
