Consuming six city block in Manhattan’s Morningside Heights neighborhood, Columbia University is as much a part of the fabric of New York City as the Empire State Building and the Statue of Liberty. Columbia University, part of the elite Ivy League, was founded in 1754 by royal charter of King George II. It is one of only nine Colonial Colleges – schools that began before the American Revolution – and it is the oldest university in New York.

Columbia University is a prestigious school with a long list of equally prestigious graduates. The school has produced three Presidents: Franklin D. Roosevelt, Theodore Roosevelt, and Barack Obama. It has also produced nine Supreme Court Justices, 25 Academy Award winners, and influential authors such as Upton Sinclair, J.D. Salinger, and Jack Kerouac.
