After crossing 12th Avenue North, about midway inside the community, the name changes to US 81 Business. Streets throughout the area have wide sidewalks making it easy for students and residents to explore the area. Restaurants and coffee shops are available within easy walking distance on the main roads in NDSU. Just north of 15th Avenue North, residents will find a soccer practice field, football practice field, and the Schlanser Running Track. The North Dakota State University Library can be found on Albrecht Boulevard above 12th Avenue North.

The University and the NDSU neighborhood are northeast of the junction of Interstates 29 and 94. Just to the east of NDSU residents can enjoy several parks on both the east and west of the river that marks the border between North Dakota and Minnesota. Hector International Airport and the Fargo Air Museum are north of the University campus.
