The Westgate neighborhood is hemmed in by 13th Avenue Southwest, which is less than a mile east of Interstate 29, and the West Acres Shopping Center. It became part of Fargo in 1975, which is when development took off here. There are more than 60 condo buildings and 70 apartment complexes in this neighborhood. It is high-density, trendy, and pedestrian- and bike-friendly.

Dakota Montessori School is in the heart of the neighborhood, on Westrac Drive South, as is the University of Mary-Fargo Center, on Page Drive South. Preschooling and child care are available at the Tot Spot, also on Page Drive South. Nearby churches include Bethlehem Lutheran on 16th Street South, Good News Lutheran on 25th Street South, and Free Methodist Church on 10th Avenue South.

Westgate is home to the Metro Rec Center, an indoor soccer arena that is available for rent throughout the year. Westgate Park, along Southgate Drive South on the lower east side of the neighborhood, has baseball diamonds, a soccer field, biking and hiking paths, and playgrounds. In the winter it has an outdoor ice skating and hockey rink. Bike lanes run along 13th Avenue South and 45th Street South.

Interstate 94, on Westgate’s northern end, leads east to downtown Fargo, the Red River, and the Minnesota border, all less than three miles away. Farther north on it are Hector International Airport and North Dakota State University-Fargo. Less than a mile south of Westgate are Prairiewood Golf Course and Anderson Park, with its softball fields and jogging trails. Restaurants, shops, services, and movie theaters can be found at the nearby West Acres Shopping Center.
