Merestone Apartments for Rent
The tidy, one-story multi-family homes of Merestone are set in an excellent location in southwest Wilmington. Sidewalks along the even landscape in this neighborhood are great for walking in the city’s balmy climate. Wilmington’s weather stays mild most of the year, and residents enjoy an active, outdoor lifestyle.
Wrightsville Beach, popular with locals and tourists, is a 20-minute drive from Merestone. Families, sunbathers, kayakers, and surfers enjoy the beach, which is lined with seafood restaurants such as Oceanic and South Beach Grill. The Loop, a 2.45-mile paved path around Wrightsville Beach’s public park, is filled with walkers and joggers on nice days. The park also has sand volleyball courts and tennis courts.
Just south of Wrightsville Beach is Carolina Beach, a quieter beach with a boardwalk that lights up at night during tourist season. Especially popular there is Britts Donuts, handmade sweets that are said to be so good they don’t need anything except glaze.
Wilmington’s two largest colleges, University of North Carolina at Wilmington and Cape Fear Community College, are near Merestone. UNCW has a nationally known marine biology program, and the campus hosts speakers and concerts that are open to the community throughout the year. CFCC has around 26,000 students and more than 60 technical degree programs.
Downtown Wilmington, set along the Cape Fear River, is filled with restaurants, specialty shops, and bars. Residents enjoy strolling along the Riverwalk, which provides a view of the Cape Fear River Bridge and the USS North Carolina, a retired World War II battleship that is open for tours. In the summer, the ship hosts outdoor movies on its deck.
