Rockwood Acres is a neighborhood in Raleigh, North Carolina. Rookwood Acres is one street that is off of Duraleigh Road, and the street is Rockwood Drive. This is a very rural area; the yards are large and filled with trees. The houses are set quite far back from the road. Rockwood Drive is a narrow road and there are no sidewalks. The homes are all different and were built from the 1970s through quite recently. There are a variety of styles and construction types.
Rockwood Acres is located conveniently to both the I-440, the I-540 and the Raleigh Durham International Airport. It is northwest of downtown Raleigh.
William B. Umstead State Park is very close to the Rockwood Acres neighborhood. This more than 5,000-acre state park offers a wide variety of outdoor activities. There are three lakes within its boundaries and it is a popular place for all types of water activities. There are boats for rent at the boat house on Big Lake. The park offers great fishing, trails for walking, hiking and horseback riding and also wonderful places to picnic under the pine trees. It is a great piece of wilderness so close to the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Cary.
There is a Harris Teeter Grocery Store within a quick and easy drive to Old Raleigh Village. Old Raleigh Village offers a unique shopping experience with several restaurants and a nice selection of local retailers.
For the delight of golfers in the family, the Carolina Country Club, a private membership-only golf club, is one of several within easy distance of the Rockwood Acres neighborhood.
