Ridgewood Apartments for Rent
Eclectic might be the best way to describe some sections of Raleigh, North Carolina. The Ridgewood neighborhood fits the term perfectly. Ridgewood is one of Raleigh’s older, well kept neighborhoods. Home prices are a little higher here on these walkable, animal friendly streets.
At Ridgewood you will find classic southern landscaped yards complete with Magnolias, Azaleas, and Raleigh’s iconic old Oak trees. Some might even say that the neighborhood has a certain Norman Rockwell appeal that is reminiscent of quiet, simpler times. Yet, intersecting Ridgewood is the busy Wade Avenue, connecting this quiet community to Interstate 40 and all the heavy traffic that flows daily through the city.
Rex Hospital is a short drive from Ridgewood, prompting many doctors to set up offices around the neighborhood. Modern medical practices have also resulted in a new conveniently located day surgery center.
Just south of Wade Avenue is Meredith Women’s College, set within easy walking distance of Ridgewood residents.
A short drive will take you to the largest art museum in the southeast. The North Carolina Museum of Art offers more than culture, with a beautiful outdoor park equipped with walking trails. Also nearby are the North Carolina State fairgrounds, featuring fun activities year round. North Carolina State University is also within easy reach.
The landmark that perhaps best represents Ridgewood, however, is the Ridgewood Shopping Center, one of Raleigh’s oldest. Located in the center of Ridgewood, the center is within walking distance for most residents. Currently, there are specialty shops, drugstores, a bank, dry cleaners, a gas station, restaurants, and a large Whole Foods Market. The center’s owners have recently proposed a renovation plan to include more greenery, sidewalks and even an electric car charging station!
