Laurel Brook consists of only a single road, Timberwood Drive, which is host to this mixed-duplex and detached-home community. William B. Umstead State Park, which is the home of nearby Reedy Creek Lake, has nearly 16 miles of hiking and bridle trails. It also has four campgrounds that get heavy use throughout the year by recreational vehicles as well as primitive-tent campers.

Once visitors are inside the park, it is obvious why it is so popular. The lake provides fishing opportunities as well as a great place to go kayaking. The park is also a popular spot for catching a glimpse of nature and has many different species of birds, deer, and other animals.

For shopping, Laurel Brook residents frequent the always-popular Crabtree Valley Mall, which is located just a little more than a mile to the east of the neighborhood. The mall features nearly 200 shops and restaurants.
