Laurel Brook is a scenic neighborhood within Raleigh. This tiny neighborhood is surrounded by vegetation, with large trees everywhere. Laurel Brook consists of only a single road, Timberwood Drive, which is host to this mixed-duplex and detached-home community. The buildings are multiple-story and feature wood-railed porches that really give a lot of character to the dwellings. The detached homes come in number of styles.

One nice thing about Laurel Brook is the tranquility of the neighborhood. With little commercial development nearby, residents are able to enjoy their neighborhood without a rush of traffic constantly zipping by their homes. Several dead-end circles provide great places for children to play, especially since Laurel Brook lacks sidewalks.

Fortunately, the lack of sidewalks in Laural Brook isn’t much of an issue, as one of the largest parks in Raleigh is located less than a mile away and provides plenty of recreation for visitors. William B. Umstead State Park, which is the home of nearby Reedy Creek Lake, has nearly 16 miles of hiking and bridle trails. It also has four campgrounds that get heavy use throughout the year by recreational vehicles as well as primitive-tent campers.

Once visitors are inside the park, it is obvious why it is so popular. The lake provides fishing opportunities as well as a great place to go kayaking. The park is also a popular spot for catching a glimpse of nature and has many different species of birds, deer, and other animals.

For shopping, Laurel Brook residents frequent the always-popular Crabtree Valley Mall, which is located just a little more than a mile to the east of the neighborhood. The mall features nearly 200 shops and restaurants.
