Valley Springs Neighborhood

Valley Springs in Raleigh, North Carolina is a large neighborhood located south and west of I-40. It extends to Garner Road and includes the neighborhoods of Idlewood Village, Foxfire, and Hardon Village. Downtown Raleigh is less than five miles to the north, allowing commuters to the city to reach their destination in approximately 10-15 minutes.

Notable sights in and around the state’s capital city include the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences, North Carolina State University, the North Carolina Symphony, and the Carolina Ballet.

Valley Springs is in an area with a fair scattering of parks, including Sanderford Road Park and Pullen Park. Sanderford Road Park, located within the Idlewood Village neighborhood, contains two playgrounds, a covered picnic area, and a baseball field.

The popular Pullen park, located near North Carolina State University, gives visitors the chance to walk or jog along a nicely-kept trail that circles the lake or to play with their kids on one of the park’s rides. Children can ride the train or a restored carousel, or go for a spin in a kiddie boat on the lake. The park also offers numerous picnic areas, including several large covered areas for group events or parties, tennis courts, a baseball field, and two playgrounds. Pets are free to play with their owners in the park’s open areas.

Located roughly four miles from Valley Springs is the Raleigh City Museum, a small non-profit organization that allows residents and visitors to learn more about the city’s history through a range of exhibits that track the various significant events and discoveries. Admission is free, and events open to the public are held monthly.
