However, at one time it was one of the largest tobacco processing and cigarette manufacturing companies in the world, producing the “toasted” tobacco that made the Lucky Strike and Pall brands so popular and successful. The company was founded in the early 1800s by Buck Duke, founder and patron of Duke University.
