The subdivision’s shape is an elongated rectangle, with the top being a little larger than the bottom. The main street of Southgate Drive travels through the entire neighborhood. Shorter streets and cul-de-sacs named after semi-precious stones include Purple Garnet, Alabaster, and Smoky Topaz. The houses were built in the mid-2000s, so the trees aren’t yet mature. Lawns are landscaped and sidewalks are on every street and cul-de-sac, making it a pleasant area to walk and ride bikes.

Worthdale Park includes walking and running trails, a playground, and tennis courts. A short drive west on Internet 40 takes residents to the Lake Johnson Nature Park, which offers boating, boat rental, picnicking, concessions, trails, and nature education. Golf courses include the Raleigh Golf Association, which lies northeast of Granite Ridge.

In addition to Downtown Raleigh’s shopping, dining, and entertainment options, nearby shopping includes the Garner Towne Square at Timber Drive and US 70/Route 50. Merchants include a Kroger grocery, Shoe Carnival, Target, Applebee’s, and the Garner Towne Square Theater.

Nearby schools are Preeminent Charter, Carnage Middle (Magnet), and Southeast Raleigh High (YR/Magnet). Colleges and universities include North Carolina State University, Shaw University, and St. Augustine’s College.
