The Thicket is a residential neighborhood in western Greensboro, North Carolina. It is roughly six miles from the heart of the downtown area, or approximately 15 minutes away by car. The neighborhood bounds include Buddingwood Drive on the north and Meadowood Street on the east. On the west, the community extends to Shelby Drive and Big Tree Way, and to the south it extends to Edith Lane. The Thicket is part of Guilford County, in the 27409 zip code area.

This rather large neighborhood encompasses nearly .35 square miles and has more than 1,315 residents. The northern two-thirds of The Thicket consists of single-family homes on rather large lots. The southernmost portion of the neighborhood consists of townhome and condominium communities, some of which feature community swimming pools and tennis courts. Most of the homes and communities here were built in the 1980s, but some date back to the 1960s and some new construction has taken place as recently as the 21st century.

One of the most significant features of The Thicket neighborhood is its close proximity to the interstate and to prominent area shopping centers. Wendover Place and Wendover Village are both within a short drive to the south of the neighborhood. Some of the shopping and dining options offered at these outdoor retail centers are a Costco, Target, Kohl’s, Old Navy, Petco, and Panera.

More affluent residents of The Thicket may belong to the Starmount Forest County Club, which is situated about two miles to the northeast of the neighborhood. This prestigious private club is situated on 150 acres and offers a stately clubhouse, 18-hole golf course, swimming pools, tennis courts, and fitness facilities.

Other attractions within a few miles north of The Thicket include Piedmont Triad International Airport and Guilford College.
