Front Park is a neighborhood with a boundary fronting Lake Erie. Next to the neighborhood lie both the city of Allen and the Central Business District. Across the Peace Bridge from the community spans the Niagara River, which flows to Lake Erie. Ontario, Canada can be seen from Front Park. The neighborhood’s streets have many single-family and multiple-family houses with trees that give it a typical suburban residential character.
Highlighted by Front Park, there are seven parks in the convenient proximity, and the center of the neighborhood is less than a mile from all of these parks. Front Park is one of the first three parks in Buffalo designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Manhattan’s Central Park. Families can picnic, play tennis, and watch their children frolicking on its playgrounds.
The Niagara Branch Library and the Karpeles Manuscript Library Museum are open to the public. Nearby is D’Youville College, a liberal arts college on Porter Avenue, which was established in 1908. At least 10 elementary, middle, and high schools are located less than a mile from the neighborhood’s center, and all serve the schooling needs of residents.
The closest hospital is the Women and Children’s Hospital on Bryant Street. There are also five restaurants along this road, many of them Chinese restaurants. Most grocery stores are at least two miles away from the community of Front Park, along with two hardware stores. The bus system has 13 routes running here.
