Ward Parkway is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. The neighborhood is located along State Line Road to the west, 85th Street to the south, Gregory Boulevard to the north, and Wornall Road to the east. The neighborhood is actually situated along the border between the state of Kansas and the state of Missouri.

Ward Parkway is a somewhat older community with most of the homes in the area built prior to 1950. These historic homes provide an excellent look into the earlier years of the city. The older homes have also provided a great opportunity for the trees to grow in, providing wonderful shade throughout the neighborhood. Massive trees line the streets and make a wonderful canopy for the community.

Most of the surrounding area is residential, making many of the biggest destinations in Kansas City a farther drive, but there is a large pocket of commercial activity around the corner of 75th Street and Wornall Road. This is where many popular restaurants are located representing a diverse array of flavors. Some of the more well known restaurants include Chipotle Mexican Grill, Pizza Hut, and Wendy’s. There is a Walgreen’s, Aldi Supermarket, and several smaller shops, as well.

A little farther down 75th street, within a mile of Ward Parkway, is the Kansas City Public Library: Waldo Community Branch. This library is used heavily by the many area students, parents, and those looking for their next great book. The library not only provides thousands of books and periodicals it also has many computers with Internet that are used for research, job searching, and school projects. The library also provides classes meant to help community members improve their computer skills, among other things. There are also reading groups aimed at increasing literacy rates and helping get kids excited about reading.
