Tower Homes Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
The Tower Homes area is quite a large neighborhood, bound by East Gregory Boulevard, Troost Avenue, East 79th Street, and Wornall Road. Many of the homes are large brick two-stories and half-timbered Tudors. It is a neighborhood with a solid feel.
A walk along the sidewalks of the Tower Homes neighborhood would be a delight, especially if the walk passes by Tower Park. Waldo Water Tower, a National Historic Site, dominates this 19-acre park within the boundaries of the neighborhood. Tower Park has a ¾ mile trail, playground, ball diamonds, and a shelter house.
However, Tower Park is just one of many parks in Kansas City. Swope Park, a short drive east, is the nation’s largest public park, with a golf course and Starlight Theater, which often brings nationally-known performers to Kansas City.
Within a half-hour drive are two national historic sites. The Harry Truman Library and Museum is to the east, in Independence, Missouri. Another top site of historical interest is the World War I Museum at Penn Park.
It is a ten-minute drive north on Troost Avenue to the Nelson-Atkins Art Museum, Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, and the Kansas City Art Institute. This drive runs past the University of Missouri at Kansas City and Rockhurst University.
The area is also home to a half-dozen medical institutions, including a large VA hospital, research, and specialty hospitals.
Top nightlife and entertainment are close by, especially Westport Plaza and the Country Club Plaza. A bit further north is Crown Center, with 50 specialty shops on three levels. Winter is great at Crown Center, with outdoor ice skating and at Christmas, the Mayor’s Christmas Tree.
The neighborhood has easy access to the interstate system. This makes Kauffman and Arrowhead Stadiums, home of the two professional teams, a quick drive away.
