Super Splash, less than two miles from Sterling Gardens, is a popular Raytown water park that offers cooling pools and water slides of every description. For land-based recreation, Arrowhead Stadium at the Truman Sports Complex is the site of the Kansas City Chiefs’ football games. In the same complex, Kaufman Stadium is the home of the Kansas City Royals baseball team. Both venues are less than two miles west of Sterling Gardens.

For quieter fun, Burr Oak Woods Nature Area is about 10 miles east of Sterling Gardens. It offers hiking trails of all levels of difficulty and a chance to learn from hands-on science exhibits at the visitor center. The park is a mile north of I-70 at exit 20, and admission is free.
