Self Help Neighborhood Council Apartments for Rent

Self Help Neighborhood Council is bounded by State Route 71 to the west, East Meyer Boulevard to the north, Cleveland Avenue to the east, and East Gregory Boulevard to the south. The neighborhood is older, with very mature trees and much green space, but well cared for. Homes are in the median price range and mostly consist of single-family homes, split-level or ranch style, built in the late 1950s and 1960s. The Self Help Neighborhood Council is a quieter place with all the major arteries on the boundaries of the neighborhood.

Several universities are near Self Help Neighborhood Council. Rockhurst University at 1100 Rockhurst Road is a four-year Jesuit school, with graduate programs as well. Just north, at 5100 Rockhill Road, is the University of Missouri at Kansas City, which offers many four-year degrees at this satellite campus. The Kansas City Art Institute has classes and student galleries at 4415 Warwick Ave.

The Kansas City Parks and Recreation department have more than 200 parks in their system, and the citizens of the Self Help Neighborhood Council are a short drive from many. Swope Park, at Swope Parkway, is just four minutes away and has just about everything you could want in a park. The Kansas City Zoo, Lakeside Nature Center, Starlight Outdoor Theatre, Kansas City Wizards training facility, a camp, community gardens, the Swope Pool, many soccer, baseball, and multipurpose sports fields, Swope Park Golf Course, and even more are all located at Swope Park.

Sports fans in Self Help Neighborhood Council can be sports fans anytime of the year. The Kansas City Chiefs play at Arrowhead Stadium at One Arrowhead Way, and across the parking lot from there is Kauffman Stadium at One Royal Way, where the Kansas City Royals play their home games. A new stadium will house the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer as they start their 2011 campaign for the cup.
