The Arabia was a side-wheel steamer, known for carrying passengers and cargo up the Missouri river. In 1856, this steamboat struck a tree snag and sank just north of Kansas City. Buried beneat a cornfield, it was recovered in 1988. Today, visitors to the museum can admire the dishware, clothing, and even bottled food found inside the Arabia.

The Berkley Riverfront Park located just a few blocks away from River Market offers pedestrians walkways and bike paths. Its trails are part of Kansas City’s Heritage Trail System.
