Park Forest Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Worlds collide in Kansas City’s Park Forest neighborhood, which has parks, a lake, and a shopping center. This kid friendly neighborhood has three schools for students of varying ages in the only Missouri school district to receive the Missouri Quality Award. Northwest Mace Road marks the western edge of the neighborhood that stretches east to North Congress Avenue from Northwest 73rd Street in the south to Northwest Barry Road in the north.
Families can have a picnic or play on the playground at Park Forest’s Barry Road Park. Further east of Park Forest is the community’s premier shopping center, the Edgewood Shopping Center. Swimming, fishing, and sailing are all welcome at Weatherby Lake, immediately west of Park Forest. Rolling hills and native trees surround the blue waters of the 274 acre lake that was created in 1937.
Students can stay close to home at Park Forest’s three schools, which accept students from kindergarten through high school graduation into one of the top school districts in the state. Prairie Point Elementary School has been encouraging students to follow the school’s vision and “build their life as if it were a work of art,” since 1997. At Congress Middle School, seventh and eighth graders are welcomed into the school’s distinguished classrooms, and can participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities including the arts, athletics, and a school newspaper. Park Hill High School, which has been named to Newsweek’s list of America’s best high schools each year between 2006 and 2010, enrolls more than 1600 students.
Park Forest is a peaceful, family friendly neighborhood near natural beauty, outdoor fun, and in one of the best school districts in the state.
