Brush Creek Park offers green wooded areas along the blue waters of Brush Creek on Oak Park Southwest’s southern edge. Oak Park has wide open green spaces that are ideal for games like soccer or football, tossing around a Frisbee, and many other open air activities in the center of Oak Park Southwest. Seven Oaks Park’s pocket of natural beauty is just a short drive east on East 39th Street.

Residents and visitors alike can sample some Kansas City culture at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, which was named in honor of the political and social activist and seeks to recognize and preserve the contributions African-Americans have made to Kansas City. Several restaurants that call the neighborhood home including Booker’s BBQ, which serves Kansas City Barbecue, and Two Fish and Five Loaves. For a nightcap locals head to the GQ Lounge on the neighborhood’s west side.
