Marlborough East is a centrally located neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. The community is bounded by East 75th Street to the north, Blue River Road to the east, East 85th Street to the south, and Prospect Avenue to the west.
The Blue River runs through Marlborough East, and there is a lot of wooded, green space that buffers the residential area from the industrial region. This industrial region is primarily south and east of the community, with easy access to the freeway.
Marlborough East is affordable and has many different styles of homes, mostly from the 1950s and 1960s. The neighborhood offers apartment living interspersed with and single-family residences. Many of the streets have mature trees and wide, shady sidewalks. The neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly and a good place to learn to ride a bike.
Swope Park is blocks away from Marlborough East. It consists of more than 1,700 acres, mostly undeveloped and heavily wooded. The park has several attractions for the whole family. The Starlight Theatre is an outdoor attraction that can seat more than 7,900 people. It is one of the last self-producing outdoor theaters in the country.
This park is also the training grounds for a major league soccer team, the Kansas City Wizards. It features two golf courses as well as baseball diamonds and athletic fields. Lakeside Nature Center is also a part of Swope Park and offers many educational programs.
It is not a long trip from Marlborough East to Kansas City’s professional sports teams. Arrowhead Stadium is the home for the Kansas City Chiefs of the NFL. Kauffman Stadium is where the Kansas City Royals play their home games. Both are conveniently located off Interstate 70 and are literally next door to each other.
