Lykins Apartments for Rent

The Lykins neighborhood is an older area of Kansas City, with homes ranging from small cottages to large two-stories, with mature shade and sidewalks in most areas. It is conveniently located to many of Kansas City’s top attractions, and some of the boundary road names hint at some of the finest.

Lykins is bound by East Independence Avenue and Benton Boulevard, with East Truman Road running through the southern tip and giving access to I-70 in zip code 64127. Residents can follow East Truman Road a few miles east to the home of one of America’s most colorful presidents, Harry Truman. A few blocks north of his home is the Truman Library and Museum.

About six miles south is the home and studio of one of the nation’s most famous artists, Thomas Hart Benton. Much of his work is on permanent display at The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

The Lykins neighborhood is just minutes from some of the best entertainment districts in the city. Crown Center, often called a city within a city, is built around the world headquarters of Hallmark Cards. There are three theaters for live events, including off-Broadway, and two movie theaters. It’s also where KC folks go to ice skate in the winter and enjoy the dancing fountains in the summer.

Near Crown Center is Union Station. Built in 1914, it is now an Amtrak station. However, it’s much more than a train depot. Science City is here, with interactive educational exhibits for children. There are also shops, restaurants, and displays. For other shopping, there are several grocery stores along Independence Avenue. Larger retail centers can be found along I-70.

A short drive north is Cliff Scenic Drive. There are two parks here, as well as the Kansas City History Museum.
