The neighborhood is located to the south of Bannister Road, east of Holmes Road, west of Blue River Road, and north of Interstate 435. There are also walkers and runners who take advantage of the longer trail, as well as photographers who use the trail as a means of getting up close to the wildlife residing around the creek.

Another popular destination is the Oakwood Country Club off of Grandview Drive, which is well within walking distance for many able bodied residents. The country club is home to a moderate sized golf course that gets regular use. The course and facilities at Oakwood are well maintained, providing a quality experience for members. The club also features an excellent tennis program with several courts that are used for league play, individual training sessions, and even tournaments.
