Legacy East Apartments for Rent

Legacy East neighborhood is composed of mostly small, single-story homes clustered in the north part of large swath of land. The neighborhood is bound by East 85th Street, Blue River Road, East Bannister Road, and Troost Avenue. Two major recreation sites also run along the north and east: Trolley Track Trail and the Blue River.

Trolley Track Trail gives residents a convenient place to hike and bike. The trail extends for five miles and there are plans to connect it with other Kansas City trails. The trail gets its name from its origins as The Country Club Trolley Line. Running along the east side of the neighborhood, the Blue River is another good recreation site with trails.

Just to the southeast of Legacy is the 3 & 2 Baseball Club of Kansas City. This has been a baseball club for young people since 1943, producing a few major leaguers along the way.

Several golf courses are nearby, with many more in the area. For Legacy East residents, the closest are Turner Golf Course and Oakwood Golf Course, both within a mile’s drive. There is also a golf course at massive Swope Park, about 5 miles away. Swope is the nation’s largest park, and home to many KC activities, including the zoo and Starlight Theater.

With easy access to I-435, the large lakes and conservation areas to the east are a short drive away. Troost Avenue is a major thoroughfare connecting the neighborhood to downtown activities, well-known retailers, entertainment, and top historic and cultural sites. UMKC is also a short drive north on Troost Avenue.

The huge Bannister Federal Complex occupies much of the southern half of Legacy East, and Kindred Hospital Kansas City sits in the northwest corner. There are numerous small businesses along the main roads that form the boundaries of Legacy.
