The neighborhood is part of the 64134 and 63137 zip codes and located south of Red Bridge Road, north of Martha Truman Road, west of Blue Ridge Boulevard, and east of Norby Road. Homes in the area are varied in age with most built between 1950-1980 with the biggest housing boom between 1950-1960.

Hickman Mills is situated perfectly for quick access to many different attractions, most of which are recreational. One of the best of these locations is just east of Hichman Mills at Longview Lake County Park, home of Longview Lake. Just north of Metropolitan Community College is the Fred Arbanas Golf Course. This course is relatively popular with residents looking for a quality game of golf. The course is well maintained and has a clubhouse with knowledgeable staff that are able to assist golfers with questions about the course or the game of golf in general.

Shopping can be found along Blue Ridge Boulevard which has numerous retail shops including some major national brands as well as local and regional stores. There are also several major restaurants including quick service and casual dining options such as KFC, Peking Express, El Maguay, Wing Busters, Church’s Chicken, and more.
