Hanover Place is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. Part of the 64111 zip code, this neighborhood is located south of Armour Boulevard, north of 39th Street, west of Gillham Road, and east of Broadway Street. Many of the homes in the area were built before 1940, providing a beautiful historic feel to the area. In addition to single-family homes, a variety of apartment communities and rental properties are also available.
The Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site off of Belleview Avenue is a great example of historic value in the neighborhood. Popular painter, sculptor, and artist Thomas Hart Benton lived the final years of life at the home. Tours through the home include the studio where he died painting in 1975.
Next to the Thomas Hart Benton Home is Roanoke Park. The park has volleyball, tennis courts, and a playground. A multiple purpose field is used for soccer, football, rugby, and other activities. The odd shape of the park provides additional pavement for walkers, runners, skaters, and cyclists.
Another historic building is the Uptown Theater off of Broadway Street. This theater is located directly in the Hanover Place neighborhood, and has been converted into a large event space for weddings, banquets, and concerts. The Uptown Theater was built in 1928 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
