Hanover Place is a neighborhood in Kansas City, Missouri. Part of the 64111 zip code, this neighborhood is located south of Armour Boulevard, north of 39th Street, west of Gillham Road, and east of Broadway Street. Homes in the area, mostly built before 1940, provide an excellent look into the city’s early history. Most of the homes here are detached and owner occupied, however some apartment complexes and rentals are in the area as well.

The Thomas Hart Benton Home and Studio State Historic Site off of Belleview Avenue is a great example of historic value in the neighborhood. Popular painter, sculptor, and artist Thomas Hart Benton lived the final years of life at the home. Tours through the home include the studio where he died painting in 1975.

Next to the Thomas Hart Benton Home is Roanoke Park. This strangely shaped park looks more like a hand on the map than a normal neighborhood park, but is definitely a popular area destination. The park has volleyball, tennis courts, and a playground. A multiple purpose field that is used for soccer, football, rugby, and other activities. The odd shape of the park also provides additional pavement for walkers, runners, skaters, and cyclists.

Another historic building is the Uptown Theater off of Broadway Street. This theater is located directly in the Hanover Place neighborhood, and has been converted into a large event space for weddings, banquets, and concerts. One popular room is the Conspiracy Room, which houses some unique statues.
