The neighborhood is part of the 64131 and 64137 zip codes and located south of Red Bridge Road, east of Blue River Road and north of Martha Truman road. Most of the homes in the area were built between 1960 and 1990 with the majority being detached homes lived in by the owner.

Walkers, runners and cyclists come to the park to take advantage of the miles of scenic trails.
Most of the shopping for those in Calico Farms is done about 1-2 miles west of the neighborhood off of 119th Street. In this area there are numerous major national brand name retail establishments offering a wide assortment of goods and services. The area also boasts a large number of dining options. Restaurants represent many different tastes from many countries around the world. The area is also home to the Sprint Campus, which is a major employer in the area.
