Jackson County Apartments for Rent(hide county information)
As one of the fifteen counties in the Kansas City metro area, Jackson County is the second largest. And while Kansas City is the center of county government, the county seat is Independence – the fourth largest city in Missouri. This large metro area contains museums, theaters, historic sites, art galleries, and shops. But it is also a naturally beautiful area with the Missouri River, lakes, beaches, parks, marinas, trails, and historic sites, such as the Harry S. Truman National Historic Site, located in Independence. The Jackson County Courthouse, built in 1836, is another landmark.
Jackson County is home to two major sports teams: The NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs and the MLB’s Kansas City Royals. Both teams call the Truman Sports Complex home. Golfers will appreciate the Fred Arbanas Golf Course at Longview Lake, a public 18-hole championship course.
Cities and towns located within Jackson County include Greenwood, Blue Springs, Raytown, Lee’s Summit, Sugar Creek, and Unity Village. Kansas City is home to many colleges and universities, including the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Columbia College-Kansas City, and the Kansas City Art Institute.
