Nature is all around Sunset Hill at the four parks within two miles. For water fun head north to the river or stay close to home at Sunset Lake. The Lake sits next to McKay park, which has trails, sheltered picnic areas, basketball courts, and a playground.

South on Southwest Boulevard less than a mile is the Southridge Shopping Center. Shoppers can peruse the Southridge Mall’s more than 75 shops. When your shopping is finished, enjoy a meal at one of the mall’s 10 restaurants, which include a New China Buffet with over 150 items and a hibachi grill. After dinner, relax and have some fun at the Dillyland Arcade, or catch a movie at the Southridge 12 Theaters.

To the east, past the Capital Region Medical Center, is the Lincoln University of Missouri. This college was founded in 1866 by the 62nd and 65th United States Colored infantries especially for the benefit of freed African Americans. To the Southwest of campus is McClung Park, whose more than 40 acres include a pavilion and a playground.
