Rock Bridge State Park, which is adjacent to the Hill Creek community, spans 2,273 acres and attracts visitors from all over the greater area. It has equestrian trails, as well as 25 miles of trails for hiking, mountain biking, jogging, and orienteering. It offers guided explorations of Connor’s Cave and serene views of its 750-acre Gans Creek Wild Area. It has the popular Devil’s Icebox Boardwalk, a picnic pavilion, and a modern playground.

Although the neighborhood is primarily residential, there are several shopping centers and stores nearby. Rock Bridge Shopping Center is three miles to its north, and Forum Shopping Center is five miles north.

Carol Leigh’s Hill Creek Fiber, a yarn store, is just north, while Mary Kay Cosmetics is one-third mile west. Pierpoint Store, an old-fashioned general store, is two miles to the east. Downtown Columbia, with all its shops and cultural opportunities, is six miles north.

Hill Creek is a popular college community. The University of Missouri, which offers plentiful student activities and a wide variety of concentrations, is five miles north. Columbia College is six and a half miles north, and Stephens College is just over six miles north. Central Methodist University and William Woods University are within a five-mile radius.
