Quantico Marine Corps Base Dumfries Area Apartment Housing

The land that now contains Marine Corps Base Quantico was donated to the Corps in 1917. It is located in the historical Prince William County, which was founded in 1731. Quantico, which is mainly a training facility, is known as the “Crossroads of the Marine Corps.” Nearly 12,000 military and civilian personnel are based at Quantico.

The base consist of the Marine Corps Officer Candidates School, the Marine Corps Brig (a military prison), and the Marine Corps Research Center. The base also contains training facilities for the Drug Enforcement Administration and is home to the FBI Academy as well as NCIS headquarters.

Triangle, Virginia is the nearest community to the base. It is located on the north side between the base and Prince William Forest Park. Triangle is just south of Dumfries, a historical city that dates back to 1690. The town, located along Quantico Creek, was officially founded in 1749.

Covering nearly 100 square miles, Quantico is a large base. Finding an apartment near Quantico depends on which area of the base you want to be close to. Triangle and Dumfries are on the north end near the Potomac River, while Aquia Harbour, Stafford, and Fredericksburg are located south of the base. The communities of Nokesville, Bristow, and the larger city of Manassas are northwest of the base.
