Leominster, located roughly 40 miles northwest of Boston, was settled in 1653 as part of Lancaster. In 1675, King Philip’s War broke out. After the war, a land grant that included Leominster helped bring colonists back to the area, and in 1740 Leominster had a large enough population to incorporate into a town.
