Southland Park is a neighborhood in the far southern portion of Louisville, Kentucky, roughly 20 minutes directly south of the downtown area. This community is bounded by the Greater Louisville Technology Park on the north and the former Louisville city limits to the south. On the west it extends to Southside Drive, and on the east it is bounded by the CSX railroad tracks. Southland Park is in the 40214 zip code area within Jefferson County. Nearby communities include Southside, Iroquois and Kenwood Hill.

Although much of Southland Park is industrial, some residential streets can be found in the western and southern portions of the community. Here you’ll find single-family homes spaced fairly close together, but with decent-sized back and front yards and plenty of shade trees. There are also some commercial areas mixed in, especially along Southside Drive.

One of the most significant features of the Southland Park neighborhood is its close proximity to the Louisville International Airport, which is situated just on the other side of the railroad tracks. This nearby international airfield makes Southland Park an ideal neighborhood for frequent business travelers. The airport is bounded on the north and east by Interstate 264 and Interstate 65, respectively, which also help connect neighborhood residents to the rest of the city. Bordering Highway 1020 also provides a nearly direct route into the downtown area.

Within walking distance west of Southland Park is one of the area’s largest parks – Iroquois Park. Not only does this 725-acre park on New Cut Road offer scenic views of the forested hillsides, but it also offers a long list of popular amenities. It is known for its golf course and open-air amphitheater, the latter of which seats more than 2,400 people and is popular for concerts and other performances. Among the other amenities offered here are hiking and biking trails, basketball courts, archery range, a lake for fishing, playgrounds and picnic shelters.
