Westmorland is a subdivision located northwest of downtown Lexington in zip code 40510. Lexington is laid out like a wheel with spokes, and the neighborhood is just north of one of these spokes, Versailles Road/US 60, and west of the wheel, New Circle Freeway/State Route 4.
Located in rolling hills, this Kentucky community is surrounded by horse farms. The Keeneland Race Course is east of Westmorland. Versailles Road and nearby roads are lined with black and white fencing around green fields and shady trees, creating a picturesque scene to view by vehicle or by bicycle.
Homes within the subdivision are set on large lots of green lawns dotted with mature trees. Streets include Westmorland Road, Gloucester Drive, and Salisbury Drive. Westmoreland is a pleasant neighborhood in which to walk and ride bikes.
Outside the neighborhood are a number of park and recreational areas. Among the nearby attractions north of Westmorland are Masterson Station Park and the Kentucky Horse Park. Masterson Station Park features a dog park, equestrian facilities, ball fields, an in-line hockey rink, a playground, picnic areas, and a sand volleyball court. Numerous public events are held there, including horse shows, soccer tournaments, and the Lexington Lions Club Bluegrass Fair in July.
The Kentucky Horse Park includes the International Museum of the Horse, American Saddlebred Museum, a horse-drawn tour, equine presentations, horseback riding, farm tours, a playground, shopping, camping, concessions, and picnicking.
For golfing, residents can frequent the University Club of Kentucky and Spring Valley Golf Club.
Dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities abound in Lexington, including at the Victorian Square Shoppes & Entertainment in downtown Lexington. A group of historic buildings were renovated in the 1980s to create one large area for shopping, galleries, restaurants, bars, a theater, and a children’s museum.
