Lexington Kentucky, the Horse Capital of the World, is home of the 2010 Alltech World Equestrian Games. Keeneland, a beautiful and world-famous race track, hosts runs twice a year in April and October. People from all over the world come to watch the races and attend the horse sales. During the off-racing season, the track simulcasts races from other tracks around the country, including the Kentucky Derby in May.
When you move in to your new Lexington apartment, be sure to visit the famous Kentucky Horse Park or one of the many historic homes, such as the Henry Clay Estate. The Daniel Boone National Forest is a short drive from Lexington, and so are Natural Bridge and the world-famous Red River Gorge. This ever-popular location is often dotted with the tents of hikers and climbers. Famous rock climbers have come from all over the world to climb the Red River Gorge. But you don’t have to go far to enjoy the great outdoors — with its famous Bluegrass, rolling fields, horse farms, flowers, and trees, Lexington is an outdoor lover’s delight.
There’s no need for a professional basketball team in Lexington — the University of Kentucky Wildcats are all the rage! Most locals are die-hard UK fans. If it is basketball season, get a ticket and enjoy!
