Northwest Kansas City is wonderful section of the Kansas City metro area, located near Highway 635, offering much for locals to do and see. The neighborhood is within seven miles of downtown Kansas City.
The neighborhood is well established and offers a park within walking distance.The Klamm Park is located a half-mile away, and offers a wonderful spot for children to play on the playground. The park offers a nice place to share a picnic in their covered picnic spots with barbecue grills included.
Residents flock to the local Arabia Steamboat Museum that features a restored historic steamboat. The boat has been refurbished to its former glory, and now also includes a state-of-the-art theater to present a movie about the steamboat’s history—how it was retrieved and restored.
The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art is also a popular spot to visit. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday, with free admission and tours given daily during their hours. The museum features collections of more than 33,000 pieces of art, with new exhibits being added throughout the year. Some of genres include American Art, American Indian, Chinese, European, Japanese, Modern and Contemporary, along with many other exhibits. The Nelson-Atkins Museum also offers a full-scale restaurant in the middle of the museum, allowing visitors to enjoy some lunch during their outing.
