Once considered a manufacturing hub for the Midwest, Muncie has evolved into an important college town. Ball State University is at the heart of this dynamic little city, located northeast of Indianapolis.

Established in 1918, Ball State University (BSU) has grown steadily and now covers more than 730 acres. This research university is home to the Ball State Cardinals, who compete in NCAA Division I. College football fans can cheer on the Cardinals at Scheumann Stadium, originally built in 1967 and renovated in 2005. BSU graduates include David Letterman, for whom the Communications and Media Building is named, and cartoonist Jim Davis.

Muncie’s extensive park system includes the Prairie Creek Reservoir and Campground, located five miles southeast of Muncie. Activities include swimming, fishing, boating, and camping. Amenities include docks and piers, boat launches, a bath house, a playground, horseshoes, and more. The Cardinal Greenway is a former railroad line that now functions as a paved biking, jogging, and walking trail. Other parks include Rose Park, Westside Park, and White River Park. A public pool and splash pad is available at Tuhey Park.

Renting in Muncie will provide you with a quaint downtown filled with shops, restaurants, and historic sites. You’ll also enjoy several annual events and festivals, America’s Hometown Band, Emens Auditorium, Kerasotes Theatre, and the Muncie Symphony Orchestra.
