The nearby Botanical Gardens are worth a visit at any time of year. Lake Mayer Park offers fishing, boating, and kayaking. The park also has trails for jogging and hiking. Wormsloe State Historic Site, about two miles away, features a nature trail, a museum, and a living history exhibit during which demonstrators in historically accurate costumes perform tasks with colonial tools.

The community’s central location 17 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, four miles from Hunter Army Airfield, seven miles from downtown Savannah, and a mile from Savannah State University make it an ideal area for military personnel, college students, urbanites, and nature lovers.
