Southside is a Savannah neighborhood that is located on the south side of the city in the 31419 zip code area. It is bordered by White Bluff Road to the west, Rimes Avenue to the north, and Vernonburg Road to the south.
The Southside neighborhood is a thickly wooded area with some of its homes and apartments being almost totally hidden from view. This provides a distinct country setting without sacrificing proximity to local amenities. For example, historic downtown is approximately 20 minutes away and the airport is only a 15-minute drive.
This neighborhood is a combination of multi-family apartment buildings and nice sized, single-family homes. Because of its location, residents are fortunate to be in the center of a shopping Mecca, which includes a myriad of small shops, the Savannah and Oglethorpe Malls, a wide selection of restaurants and hotels, and a wide variety of recreational opportunities. Located inside this same area are three of Savannah’s best hospitals.
Sports enthusiasts love this neighborhood. Golfers have four golf courses to choose from, and tennis players can find courts at nearly all of the local parks. Further, the Chatham County Aquatics Center is home to an indoor 50-meter competition pool and a 25-yard recreation pool.
