Developed in 1958, Cloverdale is a neighborhood of 1950s ranch-style houses that are shaded by tall pine trees. The neighborhood’s sidewalks are a good place to stroll in Savannah’s balmy weather. The community, which is in zip code 31415 in southwest Savannah, is bordered by Stiles Avenue on the east, Interstate 516 on the west, and Interstate 16 on the north.
Cloverdale is in the Savannah-Chatham County Public School District, and children living there attend Butler Elementary School, De Renne Middle School, and Beach High School. The neighborhood is close to several private schools, including a campus of Savannah Christian Preparatory School and Notre Dame Academy, a Catholic school for pre-K through 8th grade. Hunter Army Airfield is home to about 5,000 soldiers, coast guardsmen, and airmen and is 15 minutes from the neighborhood. Other major employers in the area, including JCB and International Paper, are within a 20-minute drive.

The historic downtown area is filled with local restaurants, bars, and boutiques, and the downtown parks feature fountains, historic monuments, and huge oak trees. Community events take place downtown throughout the year, including outdoor concerts at Forsyth Park and performances at the Savannah Dance Theatre. The city is famous for its annual St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, which include a parade and citywide party on River Street.
