Westside Apartments for Rent

Westside Atlanta, also referred to as Home Park, is a section of neighborhoods located just north of Georgia Tech University. The boundaries for the area extend from 10th Street to Northside Drive, down to 16th Street, and including Interstates 75 and 85.

Originally developed to provide residences for employees at the Atlantic Steel Mill in the early 1900s, the neighborhoods quickly became home to large numbers of students attending school at nearby Georgia Tech and Georgia State Universities.

Other college campuses located in the area include John Marshall Law School, the Midtown campus of Westwood College, and the Savannah College of Art and Design. As such, the area has taken on a young, vibrant feel, characterized by affordable housing, diners, and pizza joints.

Both Colony Square Shopping Center and Atlantic Station are less than a mile away from the Westside neighborhoods, and are easily accessible to students and other residents without cars. Much of the area is very pedestrian-friendly, with well maintained sidewalks and adequate street lighting. The area is also served by a number of buses, and a train station is less than three quarters of a mile away from the majority of residences.

Cultural and historic landmarks abound in the area. Rhodes Hall University, the State Capitol, Herndon Homes, Margaret Mitchell Museums, and Landmark’s Midtown Arts Cinema are all located within three to five miles of the Westside/Home Park community.

Several parks are located in the area as well, including Pershing Park and Winn Park. Both parks offer residents shaded walking paths, benches, and open green spaces to enjoy. A mile farther down Peachtree is Piedmont Park, one of the largest open green spaces in Atlanta, with walking trails, bike paths, playgrounds, and an off-leash dog park.

A number of restaurants in the Piedmont Park area also cater to both pets and their owners.
