The Villages at Castleberry Hill Apartments for Rent(hide neighborhood information)
Capturing the minds and hearts of Atlanta’s creative set for decades, Castleberry Hill is a neighborhood with flair, providing a wonderful community for those who wish to get as far away from endless subdivisions and cookie-cutter developments as possible. Located Southwest of the Downtown Atlanta area, it’s less than a five-minute drive from all the city’s downtown attractions, and yet, has a flair that’s far more evocative of New York City than the old-fashioned South. Bordered by Centennial Olympic Park Drive and easily accessible by three subway stations, Castleberry Hill is a true downtown neighborhood.
First designated a historic district in 1985, it has since been named a Landmark District by the City of Atlanta. This designation has helped to ensure that the neighborhood has not been changed by rapid gentrification, or completely redone by ambitious developers. Many of the area’s original buildings are still found intact, although the desirability of the community has increased with the presence of new independent shops and affordable condominiums and apartments. True to the area’s roots, most of the new homes and businesses are in the style of lofts, studios, and converted warehouses.
The Castleberry Hill Art District is the shining jewel of the area, lined with art galleries, wine shops, affordable restaurants, and boutiques. It is trendy without being pretentious, and the overall ambiance the area provides is artistic rather than overbearingly upscale. The neighborhood has a strong sense of community, inhabited by mostly singles and child-free couples in their 20s and 30s who enjoy the creative energy and enthusiasm engendered by life in an urban environment. As a result, community events are plentiful, and feature everything from wine strolls and chili cook-offs to food drives and art exhibitions.
