The neighborhoods that make up Southwest Atlanta are bordered by Langford Parkway and Campbellton Road on the south, Interstate 285 to the west, Cascade Road to the north, and Centra Villa Drive on the east. It is not required to own a car in this community, as the area is located along a number of bus lines.

Southwest Atlanta’s many neighborhoods are centrally located among some of the city’s best parks. The oldest of the parks, Grant Park, gives residents the chance to enjoy large areas of open green space, have a picnic at one of the park’s many covered areas, and explore a number of walking and nature trails. For those who enjoying attending sporting events, two of the city’s major venues can be found less than 10 miles away. The Georgia Dome is the site of a number of sporting events, including monster truck rallies, as well as concerts and speaking events. Phillips Arena is home to the Atlanta Hawks basketball team, as well as a number of concerts and other live entertainment events.
