The Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) operates several bus routes in the neighborhood including the Cleveland Avenue Route 78 connecting area residents with South Fulton Medical Center, and the Cleveland Avenue Library, Empire Road Route 178 traveling to Crawford Long Middle School, and Route 55 for students commuting to South Atlanta High School.

Residents needing to travel into Central Atlanta, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, or dozens of area attractions are able to do so via MARTA Route 78 to East Point Station, connecting with all areas of the city via the metro rail lines.

Bounded by Brownsmill Road, Jonesboro Road SE, and Springside Drive SC, the Orchard Knob community sits among the rolling hills of southeast Atlanta. Several of the neighborhood’s interior streets have sidewalks such as Humphries Drive, which leads to Humphries Elementary School and Empire Park. Empire Park has basketball and tennis courts, a baseball diamond, and green open space for picnicking or just relaxing with family and friends.

A larger recreation area, the Atlanta Southside Athletic Complex, is a few miles east of Orchard Knob. Organized baseball, softball, and soccer leagues utilize the well maintained facilities for their games and tournaments. The Rosel Fann Recreation Center, located a few minutes north, is a neighborhood gathering place offering after school programs, computer classes, and senior citizen groups. The center also offers a variety of activities from cheerleader training to teen and adult basketball, racquetball, and track and field.
